Ready to plan your Ontario LED upgrade?
Quick answer: instant savings, confirmed before you order
Ontario businesses and their contractors can receive an approved Save on Energy Instant Discounts Program discount at checkout / point of sale through Selix Kala at Improve Mall, Concord. Ask for a Wholesale Price quote showing the eligible lighting and discount on your invoice. “No paperwork” means no separate customer rebate application and no waiting for a mailed cheque; business, installation and consent details are still required. Start with our Save on Energy Instant Rebate Ontario assessment before purchasing.

What should an Ontario lighting buyer check first?
- The project: identify the actual installation site, existing lighting and intended replacement.
- The product: specify the complete model, selected wattage and sensor configuration.
- The quote: separate the regular equipment price, approved discount and amount payable.
- The quantity: count individual fixtures, not just cartons. A four-pack contains four fixtures.
- The schedule: coordinate delivery and installation before placing the order.
This guide is for contractors, property managers and business owners planning office, retail, warehouse and other commercial lighting projects in Toronto, Vaughan, Concord and the wider GTA. It helps you prepare a useful quote request; the final assessment is specific to your site and selected equipment.
2026 eligibility and the 90-day installation rule
The program covers qualifying retrofits in existing Ontario commercial, industrial, institutional and agricultural facilities, plus common areas of multi-family buildings. Residential suites and new construction are excluded. New additions and certain major renovations also count as new construction. The facility must meet the program’s electricity-grid connection requirements. The same measures cannot also receive another IESO- or Ontario-funded incentive.
Install eligible measures within 90 days of purchase. The April 20, 2026 date identifies the reviewed document version; it does not mean every program rule began on that date. For full definitions, use the official IESO Program Requirements.
Minimum customer contribution is not the final product price
Across the official eligible-measures list, the minimum customer contribution ranges from CAD $1 to $40 per eligible measure. This is a participation floor, not a catalogue of final selling prices. A fixture and a separately qualifying sensor may involve more than one measure, so $40 is not a universal cap on a combined purchase.
Read the invoice, not just the incentive table. A distributor incentive is not automatically the discount credited to your order. Ask us to show the product price before the discount, the actual customer discount and the remaining balance. Labour, mounting accessories, delivery and tax should be clearly identified where applicable.
The category examples below are program minimums, not Selix Kala selling prices. Match the exact approved model to its category before using any figure.
| Approved measure category | Minimum contribution |
|---|---|
| Integral troffer / linear ambient fixture | $5 |
| Low bay: ≤10,000 lumens and ≤100W | $10 |
| High bay tiers, depending on approved output and wattage | $20, $30 or $40 |
| Eligible recessed downlight category | $2 |
| Fixture-mounted / integrated occupancy sensor: high bay ≥100W | $10 |
| Fixture-mounted / integrated occupancy sensor: other fixtures <100W | $5 |

LED panels, high bays and downlights: choose the right configuration
Begin with the room and mounting arrangement, then compare the fixture and control options. Similar-looking products can have different drivers, mounting kits, dimming requirements and sensor interfaces.
| Product family | Compare before ordering | Eligibility checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| LED flat panels: 1x4, 2x2 and 2x4 | Ceiling opening, mounting method, selected output and whether the sensor is actually included. | Check the model’s approved DLC category. Dimensions alone do not assign it to the Integral LED Troffers & Linear Ambient Fixtures category or a low-bay tier. |
| LED high bays: UFO and linear, with occupancy sensors | Mounting height, layout, voltage, light distribution and sensor coverage. | Confirm the approved lumen/wattage tier and the installed control. “200W” or “300W” alone does not establish the incentive. |
| Commercial LED downlights and motion sensor ceiling lights | Recessed versus surface mounting, ceiling clearance, colour temperature and control behaviour. | Verify the exact ENERGY STAR® commercial fixture listing and accepted classification. A motion sensor or ENERGY STAR label alone does not establish project eligibility. |
1x4, 2x2 and 2x4 panels: without sensor, sensor-ready or sensor included?
Compare the 1x4 LED backlit panel, 2x2 Jupiter LED flat panel and 2x4 LED backlit panel against your ceiling plan. The size should fit the installation, rather than being selected solely for a possible discount.
- Without sensor: quote the luminaire and its intended switching or dimming arrangement.
- Sensor-ready / sensor base: an interface or base is provided for a compatible sensor. Do not assume the sensing component is included.
- With occupancy sensor: identify the actual sensor supplied and the intended installed configuration.
Occupancy control can reduce unnecessary lighting in intermittently used rooms. Ask about detection coverage, timeout and dimming or shut-off behaviour before installation. A sensor that works well in a storage room may need a different arrangement in an open office. For ceiling planning, see our recessed, surface and suspended panel mounting guide.
UFO 200W / 300W and linear high bays for warehouses
When requesting a UFO LED High Bay with Occupancy Sensor quote, identify the 200W or 300W model or setting you are considering. Compare it with the linear high bay with occupancy sensor using the same layout requirements. Confirm available variants before ordering.
Provide ceiling height, aisle widths, rack heights and a simple floor plan. These details help avoid a quote based on wattage alone. Sensor coverage must suit the mounting height and working areas; a high output fixture cannot compensate for an unsuitable layout. Review our UFO versus linear high bay comparison for the buying questions to ask.
ENERGY STAR commercial downlights and motion sensor ceiling lights
For corridors, service rooms and other appropriate spaces, compare the 6-inch PIR LED disk downlight and 7-inch PIR slim flush mount. They are different products: the first is listed at 15W with 5CCT selection, while the second is 12W with 3CCT selection. Confirm the mounting and switching requirements for the exact item.
For a rebate quote, ask us to verify both the fixture listing and any separately applicable control measure. Do not transfer a quoted discount from one ceiling light to another simply because both contain motion sensors.

Get an in-store or online rebate quote in four steps
- Describe the installation. Send the business name, complete Ontario installation address, building use and whether this is a replacement project. Include a contact name, email and phone number; contractors should also provide their company and contact details. Start online through the assessment form or bring the information to our Concord showroom.
- Build the equipment list. Include product links or model numbers, quantities in individual fixtures, panel sizes, selected wattages and sensor requirements. Add a ceiling plan or room photographs if they help explain the installation. Keep separate sites clearly identified.
- Confirm the quote before payment. Ask Selix Kala to check the site, approved models and applicable measures, then show the customer discount against the equipment price. Supply the required program information and consent. The invoice identifies the discount as Save on Energy Instant Discounts; a contractor purchasing for a client should also show the incentive on the client invoice.
- Arrange fulfilment and installation. Confirm availability, pickup or delivery and the installation date. Visit Improve Mall in Concord for confirmed in-stock pickup. Keep the invoice and equipment details with your project records, and complete eligible installation within the required 90-day period.
Online buying tip: submitting an assessment request starts a quote review; it does not automatically approve every item in a Shopify cart or apply an instant discount to an unverified order. Confirm the rebate price with us before checkout.
Three questions about the 2026 rules
Do all Ontario buildings qualify for instant lighting rebates in 2026?
No. The program supports eligible retrofits in existing Ontario facilities. New construction is excluded. Common areas of multi-family buildings can qualify, but residential in-suite areas do not. Confirm the installation address and project scope before ordering.
Does the minimum customer contribution equal my final lighting price?
No. It is the minimum purchaser payment required for an eligible measure, not a fixed retail price or a promised discount. Your quote must identify the approved fixture and any qualifying sensor, quantities, the actual discount and the remaining amount payable.
Do I need to apply separately, and when must the lights be installed?
The participating distributor applies the approved discount at the point of sale, so there is no separate customer rebate application or mailed-cheque wait. Required customer and installation information and consent are still needed. Eligible measures must be installed within 90 days of purchase.
