Commercial LED Downlights & Motion Sensor Pot Lights in Ontario: Wholesale & Instant Rebate Guide

6-inch 15W LED disk downlight: White motion-sensor LED downlight on a white background

A familiar word such as “pot light” can hide an important purchasing difference. One buyer needs recessed lights for an office ceiling; another needs motion-activated surface fixtures for a corridor. Ordering by size alone can produce a control or mounting mismatch, especially when a contractor is buying for several zones.

This guide connects the LED Downlights collection and Slim Recessed Downlights collection with the current sensor-equipped options and the Ontario business rebate enquiry. It does not assume every fixture in those collections is rebate-eligible.

Standard recessed, disk and PIR ceiling lights compared

Current Selix Kala listings: compare the selected product, not diameter alone
Product or format Current listed options Important control distinction Buying check
Apolo and multi-fit 4-inch options Apolo 9W 5-CCT, 30-pack; multi-fit disks 9W 5-CCT, 20-packs Standard fixtures are not automatically motion-sensor fixtures Confirm recessed or J-box/can mounting and selected model controls
6-inch PIR LED disk 15W; 5CCT; 1,230 lumens; CRI 96 listed Continuously dimmable; integrated PIR Indoor, wet-location rated as listed; confirm mounting and compatible dimming
7-inch PIR slim flush mount 12W; 3CCT; 1,000 lumens; CRI 86 listed Non-dimmable; integrated PIR Indoor, damp-location rated as listed; do not assume wet-location suitability

Start with the building zone and mounting

List corridors, storerooms, washrooms, offices and shared areas separately. Photograph the existing fixture and ceiling condition. A remote-junction-box recessed downlight, a disk attached to a compatible box and a flush-mounted ceiling light should not be treated as the same installation.

Have the installer verify the opening, support, wiring and location rating for each zone. A wet-location label on one model does not carry over to a different product, and a larger diameter does not establish greater useful light output. For adjustable beams, compare gimbal versus fixed recessed downlights.

The two PIR models have different dimming and colour settings

The 6-inch disk lists 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K settings. The 7-inch slim flush mount lists 3000K, 4000K and 5000K. Choose the intended setting for each zone and record it on the fixture schedule rather than leaving a mixed delivery to be configured without instructions.

The 6-inch model is listed as continuously dimmable; the 7-inch model is non-dimmable. Do not place both on an assumed common dimming arrangement. Have the installer check the exact controls and supplier documentation. Our 6-inch versus 7-inch PIR comparison covers the individual model differences in more detail.

Occupancy sensing needs an installation review

Record mounting height, the path people use and how long the area is normally vacant. PIR operation depends on the actual detection arrangement. Ask for documented coverage and control settings rather than assuming a sensor that works in one corridor will suit another.

For offices, discuss seated occupants and the desired delay. For shared areas, ask how the lights return to normal operation and who configures the settings. A built-in sensor is a product feature; it is not a substitute for assessing the space or confirming program eligibility. See the occupancy sensor and rebate guide.

Wholesale Price: keep fixtures and packs separate

The slim collection includes multi-pack listings, while the PIR ceiling-light listings are individual products. Record total fixtures, units per pack and pack count as separate purchasing details. A pack of twenty 9W lights does not describe a 20W downlight.

Ask the quote to identify each model, finish, mounting arrangement, dimming requirement and separately supplied accessory. Include the delivery or pickup plan. Selix Kala serves project enquiries from Improve Mall, Concord, Ontario; confirm stock and arrangements before visiting.

Instant Rebate eligibility for commercial downlights

Save on Energy Instant Discounts support qualifying purchases for eligible existing Ontario facilities. The official requirements distinguish fixture measures from standard occupancy-sensor measures. A motion-sensor fixture is not automatically approved for both, and its diameter or generic certification claim is not enough to establish eligibility.

Give Selix Kala the proposed model and business installation details before relying on a discount. Review the current contribution table and program conditions. The contribution is a program minimum, not a promise of a particular selling price. Eligible equipment must meet the installation timeline; new construction and private residential suites are outside this business lighting offer.

No separate customer rebate application is required for an eligible point-of-sale discount, but the required purchaser, installation and consent information must still be collected. Ask for the confirmed discount and selected equipment to appear clearly in the project quote and purchase invoice.

A practical commercial downlight enquiry

  1. Identify the existing fixtures and required replacement quantities by zone.
  2. Choose recessed, disk or flush-mounted options and confirm mounting dimensions.
  3. Separate dimmable and non-dimmable models in the control schedule.
  4. List colour settings, location ratings and required sensor behaviour.
  5. Send the Ontario installation address and proposed models for eligibility review.

Compare both PIR motion-sensor ceiling lights and request a commercial product and rebate review. For a project containing office panels or warehouse lighting as well, include those zones as separate order lines rather than applying one fixture specification across the building.

Frequently asked commercial downlight questions

Are a recessed pot light and a PIR flush mount interchangeable?

No. Recessed, disk and flush-mounted fixtures can have different mounting, opening and control requirements. Match the exact product to the installation rather than relying on nominal diameter.

What is the difference between the listed 6-inch and 7-inch PIR lights?

The 6-inch disk is listed as 15W, 5CCT and continuously dimmable. The 7-inch slim flush mount is listed as 12W, 3CCT and non-dimmable. Their output, colour settings and location ratings also differ.

Does adding a PIR sensor guarantee an Ontario Instant Rebate?

No. Fixture and sensor measures have their own product and installation requirements. Confirm the exact equipment and program treatment with Selix Kala before relying on a discount.

Can a private home use this business lighting rebate?

The business program covers eligible existing facilities and qualifying common areas of multi-unit buildings. Private homes and individual residential suites are outside this business lighting offer.

What should a contractor send for wholesale downlight pricing?

Provide product models, fixture quantities, pack counts, installation address, mounting details, supply and control requirements, plus the existing lighting and intended installation timing.
